Calvary Awarded Gold Seals of Approval
Recognized for achieving the highest national standards for safety and quality of care, Calvary is committed to continuous improvement
Calvary has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation (for Calvary Bronx and Calvary Brooklyn) by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
Calvary also earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Community-Based Palliative Care (CBPC) Certification and The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Home Care Accreditation.
The CBPC Certification recognizes health care organizations that focus on elevating the quality and safety of their services for patients and their families who receive community-based palliative care in their homes or primary places of residence. This type of care provides physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual support to individuals with serious illnesses.
Calvary Hospitals and Calvary@Home provides palliative and end-of-life hospice care to approximately 6000 people annually across Greater New York who suffer from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. Calvary’s also provides extensive support services, including grief and bereavement care, to more than 24,000 of our patients’ family and friends.
The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance. Joint Commission surveyors also conduct onsite observations and interviews.
Calvary voluntarily underwent a thorough evaluation in 2022 by The Joint Commission. The goal of the evaluation? To see if we meet the Joint Commission’s rigorous performance standards in delivering quality, safe care. By meeting these standards, Calvary received The Gold Seal of Approval® – an internationally recognized symbol of quality.
The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 22,000 health care programs worldwide and focuses on continually improving health care by setting the highest standards for health care quality throughout the world.
