Calvary Hospital has appointed senior healthcare executive Solomon A. Torres, FACHE, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Working with President Michael J. Fosina, Mr. Torres will oversee operations and help build the capacity of Calvary’s inpatient services in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn.
Mr. Torres most recently served as the Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, a member of One Brooklyn Health.
“There are initially two areas I will focus on. First, to meet and engage with my colleagues to immerse myself in the mission and to understand how we can work together and second, to ensure that we have everything we need to support Calvary staff in their special role in caring for patients and their families at this critical time in their patients lives.” said Mr. Torres, who has worked across a wide and diverse range of health systems, hospitals, academic medical centers, medical practices and clinical environments in New York and Philadelphia.

A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Mr. Torres is board certified in healthcare management and serves as a member of the ACHE Board of Governors. He has held leadership positions at Mount Sinai Health System, NYU Winthrop Hospital, New York Presbyterian Healthcare System, Columbia University, Beth Israel and LIJ Medical Center as well as additional management roles at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and Jacobi Hospital. He served as Chief Operating Officer at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia,
Mr. Torres, a past president of the Metropolitan Hospital Administrators’ Association, is an active educator, having contributed to several graduate programs. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Health Sciences at Hofstra University. He attained his Master’s Degree from the NYU Wagner School and his Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University Cook College.
