In a heartwarming ceremony, the Calvary family came together to recognize and celebrate Kimberly Alvarez, Charles Kluvi, and Latisha Russell. This event also provided an opportunity to shine a light on the unwavering dedication and commitment of the entire Calvary Hospital care team, who form the heart of our mission and institution.
Kimberly Alvarez – Excellence Award Recipient
Kimberly Alvarez, a Unit Secretary on 4 South, has been an integral part of the Calvary family since 2018. She began her journey as a per diem unit secretary and quickly earned a full-time position in 2021 due to her dedication and exceptional performance.
Kimberly’s colleagues describe her as a competent, reliable, and committed team player who consistently embodies Calvary’s core promise. They fondly refer to her as ‘the glue that keeps her team connected’ and ‘a shining star who continues to inspire those around her.’ The Calvary Excellence Award she received is a testament to her exceptional team support and unwavering commitment to providing excellent care.
Charles Kluvi – Catch-A-Star Award Winner
Charles Kluvi, a Calvary Care Technician (CCT), is a true veteran in the field of healthcare, with an impressive 20 years of dedicated service at Calvary Hospital. His unwavering dedication, professionalism, and kindness have left an indelible mark on the hearts of patients and their families.
Colleagues and friends at Calvary commend Charles for being a dependable team player who consistently goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care. His ability to maintain a positive and compassionate demeanor, even in the most challenging situations, is a testament to his character and commitment to patient well-being. Charles serves as a shining example for his colleagues.
Latisha Russell, RN – Daisy Award Honoree
Latisha Russell, RN, has been a cornerstone of the Calvary Hospital team since 2003, serving in various roles in both the Bronx and Brooklyn locations. A graduate of Lehman College, she consistently demonstrates exemplary clinical skills and an unwavering commitment to patient care.
Latisha’s journey at Calvary has seen her take on roles as a CCC, preceptor, and off-shift supervisor, all while maintaining a profound understanding of healthcare protocols and a compassionate approach to patient care. Her colleagues describe her as a beacon of positivity and collaboration. The Daisy Award, which recognizes nurses who serve as outstanding role models, is a fitting tribute to her dedication and impact on the Calvary community.

Today, Calvary Hospital provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient programs, including home hospice, palliative care, and bereavement support.
