Starting at Calvary as a volunteer, she was inspired by Calvary’s mission and was presented the opportunity to become a CCT in 2008. Since then, she has motivated her colleagues with her faith and passion for upholding Calvary’s core values of compassion, love, dignity, non-abandonment and caring.

Ellen starts nursing school in the Fall of this year. When asked why she was interested in becoming a nurse, she stated, “I am a single parent of two college-age children. I want them to know that education is important, and it is never too late.” Ellen’s goal after completing her nursing degree is to become a Wound Care Nurse.

This year’s event is dedicated in loving memory of Dennis E. Berberich, a devoted member of the Calvary Hospital Board and the Chairman of the Calvary Fund Board from 1985 until his passing in 2002. Dennis dedicated his life’s work to the growth and success of the Hospital’s programs of care. Dennis was an enthusiastic supporter of the Calvary Hospital Golf Classic, and his love of tennis resulted in the addition of tennis as part of the annual outing, proceeds from the tennis portion go directly towards the Dennis Berberich Scholarship Fund. Since 2003, the scholarship fund has provided more than $60,000 in aid to CT’s who are eager to further their career in nursing.
