Celebrating Social Work Month 2025

March is Social Work Month, a time to recognize the dedication and impact of social workers in our communities. The 2025 theme, “Social Work: Compassion + Action,” beautifully reflects their mission to create meaningful change.

National Social Work Month 2025

Social workers provide essential support, helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with empathy and expertise. Whether in hospitals, schools, social service agencies, or mental health facilities, their work touches countless lives.

This month, we honor their commitment to making the world a better place and shine a spotlight on the incredible social workers of Calvary.

Compassion + Action: The Heart of CalvaryCare®

At Calvary, social work isn’t just a department—it’s a cornerstone of our care model. Our dedicated Family Care team—composed of Social Workers and Family Care Practitioners—ensures that every patient and family receives the emotional, social, and practical support they need.

During National Social Work Month, we honor the incredible professionals who bring compassion into action every day, helping patients and their loved ones navigate life’s most challenging situations.

Social Work: A Core Pillar of CalvaryCare®

CalvaryCare® is about more than medical treatment—it’s about treating the whole person and their loved ones. Our social workers are at the heart of this mission, working alongside doctors, nurses, chaplains, and volunteers to provide holistic, patient-centered care.

How Our Family Care Team Supports Patients and Families
From the moment a patient is admitted, they are assigned a Social Worker/Family Care Practitioner who helps guide them and their loved ones through every step of their journey. Their support includes:

  • Emotional and Psychological Care: Providing counseling and grief support to patients and families.
  • Practical Assistance: Helping with paperwork, insurance, and end-of-life planning.
  • Family Advocacy: Ensuring families understand care options and can make informed decisions.

“We’re not just here for the patient,” says a Calvary Family Care Practitioner. “We’re here for their family, ensuring they feel supported, heard, and empowered.”

A Care Model That Puts Families First

Unlike other hospitals, Calvary welcomes visitors at any time, including pets, because we believe no one should feel alone at the end of life. Family members can stay overnight in the patient’s room or dedicated accommodations at no charge—a simple but powerful way we prioritize comfort and connection.

This family-first philosophy is at the core of CalvaryCare®, ensuring that every patient spends their final days surrounded by love, not limitations.

Honoring Social Workers Everywhere

This month, we celebrate not only our own Family Care team but all social workers who dedicate their lives to supporting others. Their work is essential, whether in hospice care, mental health services, crisis intervention, or advocacy.

The 2025 theme, “Compassion + Action,” perfectly reflects what social workers do every day: turn empathy into meaningful, life-changing support.

To our Calvary social workers and to social workers everywhere: Thank you for your dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to making the world a more compassionate place.
